Joan Català
Travel Writer, Barcelona
I was born in the Eixample neighbourhood of Barcelona, three streets from the Sagrada Familia. The cranes and scaffolding were part of my skyline before I understood what the building was. That familiarity, and a degree in art history from the Universitat de Barcelona, turned into a decade of writing about Catalan architecture and helping visitors make sense of what they are looking at.
I started this site because most Sagrada Familia content online is either the official tourism board copy-paste or affiliate spam with no real information. I wanted a guide that tells you which tower is actually better for photos (Passion tower at 17:00), when queues are shortest (Tuesday or Wednesday, first slot at 09:00), and why the stained glass on the west side looks different from the east side (Gaudí designed warm colours on the west, cool on the east).
Every article on this site is written by me or fact-checked against my own visits. I do earn affiliate commissions when you book through the links here. That funding keeps the site running and me motivated to keep the information current.
If you have a question about visiting, use the contact page. I read everything.
